I'm a backend engineer with a deep interest in systems and infrastructure. Most recently, I've been working on Symphony, a serverless runtime designed to make it easy for developers to build collaborative web applications. It runs on Kubernetes and is written in JavaScript/TypeScript. Before that, I worked as a freelancer- clients included 37signals, where I worked in the Security, Performance, and Infrastructure (SIP) team. I'm also the author of pzip (https://github.com/ybirader/pzip), a blazing fast concurrent zip archiver and extractor, that is 15x faster than Info-Zip (zip(1)). It's written in Go. My degree is in Physics, during which I also published research on the dynamics of extra-solar planetary systems. Other interests include long-distance cycling and reading classics.
