A little about myself: My CV is not up to date, I have been working as non-founding CTO for a smaller games company for the last 18 months. During this time I have been responsible for 12 direct reports and 25-ish indirect reports. I've revamped and refined the technology direction (going from an outsourced tech prototype to a beta-released quality product), grown the team (and culture) from 4 persons to a 50 person startup, including managing software licensing and budgeting, I have lead direction on the behaviour of online systems, conformance testing for non-PC platforms. I also acted as legal guarantor, streamlined developer productivity with better (and easier to collaborate) tools including a migration from Office365 to Google Workspace, Bitbucket->Gitlab, SVN->Perforce Helix (game studio, of course) and standardised on an IDE platform that supports remote and live collaborative development, I have acted as mentor to over 4 people in very disparate areas of the tech organisation (Build Engineering, Gameplay programming, tools programming and online backend team). I have also been the person primarily responsible for creating realistic milestones while taking into consideration our limited capacity and externally communicated ambitious deadlines -- without the expertise of a project manager or producer. -- all of this in a fully remote environment. I seem to be received well as a senior manager, based on what my reports say to the head of operations at least, but I prefer going technically deep on topics and not spending all my time in more high level areas (and meetings). In my professional life I have had success as an SRE-type person but would prefer perhaps to work in developer experience or backend programming roles. I have previously released games as part of a very small Live Operations team such as: "Tom Clancy's The Division" and it's sequel "The Division 2"; as part of Ubisoft/Massive and I released "Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodhunt" as part of Tencent/Sharkmob. Before this I worked in eCommerce. In all positions I was SRE. Ask me about the depth of my automation if you want war stories. :) I have gone extremely deep into linux system internals, databases and networking. My knowledge of Rust and Python is strong but my Go is a little lackluster unfortunately as on a personal level I dislike its slice mutability semantics and propensity for data races (which do not exist in Rust and is something that the GIL outright kills in Python) I'm open to relocation, and even taking a pretty drastic pay cut as I'm currently paid as a CTO.. What I really need is a culture of trust and autonomy, as I have strong intrinsic motivation and a decent amount of skill but unfortunately I dislike politics and bureaucracy.
